Guthrie is the founder of venture consulting group in which he helps businesses and families help them become more profitable. More recently he has launched a passion project, Wisdom-Trek, which is a website and podcast called where he shares his wisdom and aims to make impact on the world and help create larger living legacies for those that choose to join in.

·      Work & Life Integration. It is possible in this day and age to better incorporate your work and life and while it might not be possible for all of us to fully integrate this we can certainly be creative and plan on ways for us to do so.

·      Create balance. It is important to have balance in all areas of your life and this will vary depending on your situation but still relevant. You must find time for family, friends, work and play, if you neglect one area the other areas will suffer at some stage.

·      Enjoy where you are today. While it is essential to hold on to your vision we must understand that the journey there may be a long one and on our journey we need not become frustrated with or anxious but rather focus and enjoy where we are today.

·      Approach all you do with great attitude. Even in times of adversity if you can hold a positive attitude to all that you approach you will face less suffering and be more well received by others and opportunities will present themselves.

·      Helping others. This seems to be a common trend among many of the people I speak with and that is about incorporating in what you do ways you can help benefit others. If this is not possible you can offer assistant and help as gifts to others usually in line with your skills and strengths.

·      Take pause.  In line with being able to step back when you approach challenge, struggle or hardship it is helpful to pause and reflect. With this approach you will be able to view the full picture, gain greater understanding and clarity, and from there take correct action to overcome those obstacles.

What advice would you give to your 20-year-old self?

Not to take the financial worries and concerns so seriously and be more about making an impact than making an income. Stay humble and compassionate towards others, other will be going through struggles also. Focus on what is happening today, have a clear vision on where you are going but don’t get so wrapped up in concern about what’s to come that it holds you back today.

His interpretation of success

Success is to be able to have his family be able to look at him and see his life a one with integrity, authentic, and he is always the same no matter what situation he is in. It also means living and leading a legacy.

Living a rich and satisfying life by creating a living legacy that will impact the world not only today but for generation to come. Having financial success may allow us to amplify this but keeping in mind money is only a tool.
