I really enjoyed this chat! Please check out the key take-outs as below and feel free to reach out to Helen or myself with any questions, comments or feedback.
Until next time peace, passion and purpose.
Key Take Outs
· Break free of the emotional baggage. Often our emotional baggage holds us down from really taking those significant steps forward. This baggage relates to our past experiences and most likely is something we are aware of but struggle to let go of. This I why asking for help and even enlisting the services of professionals to help release you from this baggage may be advisable.
· Have significance in life. When we have a life of significance, one in which we feel like we are contributing, we come alive. It gives us a greater sense of self respect and importance and these two things alone really help us fight any anxiety and depression we may suffer.
· Be selfish. This sounds harsh but in the right context it is a must. You have to take care of yourself and make sure you are doing everyday what is right for you. It is not about not caring for others this is important but you must care for yourself first before you can truly care for others.
· Don’t continue on in a state of unhappiness. If you are unhappy in anything you do, change it! Find ways to break the spell and take action. In this life we are meant to be happy so don’t accept anything else.
· Avoid the naysayers. When you start out following your passion people will tell you that you cannot, they will tell you reason why. Listen to them with openness but avoid their negativity and follow your own intuition, you are the final opinion. Don’t be discouraged.
· Have a plan B. A plan B must not be an excuse to fail but used more as a comfort to take the next step. Risk is likely in whatever new course you venture so to help minimize risk a plan A, B, C, D etc may come in handy. Diversity in all fields of life is not uncommon.
· Have want and take action. When what you want is big, huge, you will do whatever action is required to fulfill that want. Find passion, have a burning desire so much so that you become hungry for what you want and go for it.
· Don’t fear being judged. Many of us avoid pursuing a dream because we fear what others may think. We avoid seeking help to avoid being judged by those around us. Fear not and don’t worry about those that judge, again be selfish and take care of number one, you! Those that judge do it out of protection of their own ego.
· Do it daily, to cheat or not to cheat. For some of us we can avoid taking a day of, or cheating one day here and there, for other we must not. Understand how you best operate and take the best course of action from there. If you exercise because if makes you feel good but like to have a day of than so be it. If by having a day of things fall of the rail my suggestion would be to remain consistent.
What advice would you give to your 20-year-old self?
At 16 she would have told herself to follow her heart and listen to her heart rather than to everyone else and everything else around her.
Her interpretation of success
