“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.” Benjamin Franklin

This book is a recipe for productivity. It will help you become more disciplined and focused in achieving all that you desire on your journey to living with greater passion and purpose.

The subtitle of the book gives you a good indication as to what you can expect and that is to learn how to dominate your day before breakfast. Throughout this book Jeff shares practices, tips and advice on how you can master your day, master your life and essentially become more effective in how you approach life.

The idea of dominating your day before breakfast is not a new one but is currently a little bit trendy. I feel it’s like the next meditation wave.

The truth is the successful people have known the benefits and affects that by waking up early and having solid routines and habits can have on ones life.

It may sound a little ludicrous but for many of the behaviors of the successful, this is often the case. That is why they are successful, because they do more than what the average do like waking up early.

If you want success in life, in whatever way that means to you, then start adopting the behaviors of the successful or those people you inspire to become more alike, this may be one of them. Waking up early getting into some good and healthy routines so that you are set up and ready to blast the day away.

If you think about most people or the average person, including myself not so long ago, the typical routine of the morning is to wake up, rush around getting ready, smash down some food and hit the road.

We move so quickly into our day and leave no time for any preparation. This leaves us feeling behind the 8-ball from the start. The rest of day continues in this mode; rushed, underprepared and chasing our tale.

The idea of waking up at 5am and giving your self more time to begin the day is recipe for success. Jeff shares within this book the practices that you may wish to follow.

Such practices include doing some form of meditation, doing some exercise routine, eating a healthy and having a nourishing breakfast, and even reading or inputting some positive information or certainly educational media. Jeff offers a great deal more suggestions within this book.

This doesn’t mean you need to wake at 5am but the message is to get into action just a bit before you usually would so that you can master the day. And you will!

There is a Chinese proverb that is a favorite of mine that states if you sweet more in peace you will bleed less in war. This indicates to me that simply by doing some preparation, getting the body moving and the brain working before you really get into the day, you will be more likely to win the battle of your day.

Obstacles will become easier to navigate through, challenges you face will be better handled and how much you get done will be amplified compared to what you otherwise would have done on a normal day.

You will sleep better at night knowing that you accomplished more. Besides that I personally find that I get a fair chunk of those tasks and works completed before the day has even started. This means I have a head start over everyone else and that alone makes me feel pretty damn good.

The morning is usually a quieter time also which means the amount you can get done is strengthened, as there are less distractions and annoyances. This makes it a perfect time to work on those passions that you have and start creating the dream life that you want.

For most of us if, we rush into our day, with plans or visions of things to do when we finish the days work including time to work on ourselves but this often does not eventuate. At the end of the day we are tired, we are more likely to have been frustrated by key events in the day and therefore less likely to take action on those things we wanted to do.

We make excuses, we procrastinate, we opt for pleasure activities that are easy and quick wins. Things like TV, drinking, socializing, eating, resting, to name a few.

Get up early, adopt and practice greater routine, and with any other extra time, also work on those things to improve you, including your passions or side freedom projects, and you will get it done. There will no longer be those end-of-day blues to stop you in your tracks.

There is also truth that our most productive time is in the first waking hours of the day. So why not use that time on things you want to do than on what some else may be requesting of you, i.e. work!

Jeff goes into much more detail throughout this book and shares greater insight and practices to really dominating your life. Highlights include: the 5am Blueprint; how to have an inbox zero, how to create long-term plans and getting things done with short-term focus; daily, weekly and 30-day actions plan; and a bunch more.

Have a read, you will be sure to take something away to improve your life.
