Summary
“Real men, when no body is watching, are putting in work.” Eric Thomas
These guys are all about pushing the boundaries of performance mentally, physically and anywhere in between. They have started their own business and podcast in order to live out a life of their design but also to share, assist and inspire others on their journey in becoming Too Fit.
Their endless pursuit to properly fuel their active lifestyles often left them frustrated and disappointed. They spent years looking for products that would better their performance and that were of the highest quality. None met their standards and their goal was to fix this problem, in which they believe they have.
In their podcast their goals are to interview renowned experts from doctors to strength experts, to entrepreneurs, to extract tools and tricks that their followers can implement to help them excel in their individual performance.
In this episode we discuss healthy routines and rituals certainly with emphasis on those morning practices. Most of the conversation revolves around health and as it relates to diet and exercise. This is by no means the only way, method or best advice but certainly good advice and something that I am sure you can take something away from.
I really hope you enjoy this discussion and take away something that you can implement in your life to help you along on your journey. Until next time, peace, passion and purpose.
Key Take Outs
“Discipline equals freedom.” Jaco Willing
- Morning routines. Having a solid morning routine whether you are a spontaneous person or very structured type is essential in getting more out of your day. There are so many benefits that come from having a solid morning routine including: greater productivity, improved mental capacity, better discipline, greater clarity, and improved motivation and energy to tackle that day.
- Journaling. This is a great practice to help connect with your gratitude’s, affirmations, and also to dump your brain. Taking it out of your head and putting pen to paper allows you to clear your head, create greater awareness around those things you desire and having greater focus and clarity.
- Movement practice. Exercise is good but it really is important to find what works for you and most importantly that you are doing some form of daily movement practice. If you don’t move you will loose. Find a practice that you enjoy and it will be much more sustainable.
- Food exercise practice. Getting conscious about your choosing food and you will create a strong food exercise practice. That may mean having a cheat day or it may just mean becoming more consciously aware about what you are fuelling your body with. When you are aware you will naturally make better food choices.
- Strength and flexibility. These two things are key to maintaining a healthy body longer term. The higher the intensity of your workout the greater the reward. A stronger and more flexible body will have greater longevity.
- Remove the distractions. If you are trying to create healthy habits try removing any of those distractions or temptations that will impact on your efforts in adopting new practices. For example if you enjoy ice-cream and just want to treat yourself once a week just buy a small tub and that way it wont be in the house every other day.
- Incorporate health and fitness into your environment. Don’t use the gym or pool as the only places you can practice being healthy as they can often become reasons to procrastinate or excuse yourself from working out but also if you miss a day you may feel as if though you failed. Try incorporating some health practices into your daily environment, like push-ups, planking, or chin-ups. You will become more conscious and aware of greater daily movement practices.
What advice would you give to your 20-year-old self?
Stay the course; keep putting your best foot forward and good things will happen.
Their interpretation of success
In society success equals money but this is an old paradigm. Success can be defined rather as living to whatever freedom means to you personally.
