It is not all Vegan yet more a multi-dimensional approach to both food and health. Discussing the ins and outs of certain types of foods and specific benefits and the overall reason for adopting such a way of life. He is both knowledgeable and thorough on this topic.

I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did and until next time, can’t wait to hear from you, peace, passion and purpose.

    Key Take Outs

    • Exploration of your interests. When you connect with something you value highly and really start exploring that value to a higher level with great intent, enthusiasm and curiosity you never know where it may lead you in life. I can assure you it will create a life that is much more satisfying than one that goes against your interests and values.
    • Experimentation and finding what works for you. In this discussion this relates more so to diet than anything else however the principle is the same. In order to live a life with greater passion and purpose you need to experiment and adopt those things that work for you.
    • Blue Zones, and the behaviours and lifestyles you desire. The blue zones are where the people that live the longest reside. When you desire to live a long and healthy life, or when you desire a certain level of success rest assured that success leaves clues. We can benefit greatly then from adopting those behaviours that people who have that level of success do.
    • Reduce anxiety and stress. Exercise and meditation. Diet is fundamental in a long and healthy life but equally too are exercise and meditation. They go hand in hand and they also help to reduce your levels of stress and anxiety, therefore reducing your cortisol levels and increasing your ability to making healthier food choices.
    • Calories vs. nutrient rich foods. We all believe that it are the calories we consume that affect our weight however perhaps it’s not clearly the case. If we eat food low in nutritional value, out bodies tell us we still need to eat. Nutrition rich foods leave us feeling more satiated than some of those calorically dense foods. Eat healthier and you will less inclined to eat those rubbish foods and in less excess.
    • What is your pain tolerance? The ability to want and desire change is really our ability to cope with pain. Some have a greater tolerance than others. Also for much of what we do the pain is not so noticeable yet on the longer term scale of things can build up. When is it that enough is enough to make you want to change.
    • What is your reason? The reason for change needs to be more than just a short-term sense of motivation. You really must connect with the deeper why and motivation to make change otherwise it will be hard to sustain the change. A strong visualisation of where you are heading may be beneficial to help keep you on track.
    • Lead by example. The best approach to encourage others to change is by leading by example. That means rather than trying to control someones desire to change and forcing it down their throats you can simply lead the change you desire. People will start picking up on what is working for you, if it relates or means something, that then they will start following you in efforts to achieve similar results. As Gandhi said, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”

What advice would you give to your 20-year-old self?

Trust yourself! You know more than you think you know. Follow your gut intuition and passion, and know that when you take some risk the universe will look out for you.
