Summary
“What job is easy, fun & rewarding?”
Shane Seymour is the founder of TV Magic Franchising Pty Ltd. Shane Seymour was born in the small country town in Queensland, Australia and had a very modest upbringing. Shane relished in competing and being the best at anything he devoted his time to. The key to his success was living with a healthy obsession for that task/goal at hand.
Shane started university before testing himself our in dozens of jobs including time in the Army reserves. Shane felt the idea of being stuck in an office as a career seemed boring and as a ‘labourer’ – breaking his back for a living didn’t sound like fun. This lead him into building his TV franchising empire.
In this episode we have a conversation about Shane’s journey, his lessons and thought and habits that are worth the time to taking you forwards to achieving the success you desire. We run of on tangents talking about priority setting, why passion is essential, making calculated risks, surrounding yourself by like-minded people and Shane introduces the Training Balance Scale.
Such a great chat- please enjoy! Peace, passion and purpose.
Key Take Outs
- Have persistence. You must be persistent in what you set out to achieve. There is no quick wins, or at least not often, so dream big, lower your immediate expectations and remain persistent in what must be done. You will reach your dreams.
- Have Passion. This is a fundamental aspect of persistence. If you can find passion in what you do you will have a higher chance of longevity allowing you to persist in the challenging times. You may need to create passion in those activities you don’t enjoy or outsource them.
- Make calculated risk. Assessing the risk in what you desire to do is important. By understanding the risk involved you will be able to decide if the risk is indeed worth it. If there is any hesitation than it should be a no. Don’t let risk stop you from doing what you feel you must though. Sometimes risk is a logical mask to protect ourselves from failure at other times its just an excuse to delay and procrastinate.
- Master priorities setting. You need to set your priorities and master this practice. The priority at any given period should be the number one task or activity that is most likely to take you towards living your idea life.
- Surround yourself by like-minded people. This is a habit of successful people. The embrace the presence of brilliance and like minded people. Habits are contagious as are attitudes. Choose to be around people with masterful habits and positive attitudes.
- Training balance scale. Results are 99% self mindset and 1% action. If you can master your mindset through learning, preparation and planning the action that proceeds will much more likely achieve the desired result and at a quicker rate.
