The Life Compass is made up of four elements as is the points on a compass. The elements are Dreams & Passions, Skills and Talents, Core Values and Needs & Desires. If you can ask yourself come critical questions around each of these areas, reflect and express your answers you will better understand your why.
The action step for this episode is to download the Discovery Questionnaire at The Hidden Why dot com and take the time to work through the questions. These are not the only questions to ask but they will assist you in getting started.
Knowing your dreams and passions is important. Following your passions is beneficial. Breathing more passion into everything we do will set up free. When you are passionate about what you do you will do it with more motivation. Your quality of work will improve and your sustainability and ability to persist with be strengthened. Most importantly you will enjoy life more deeply.
Understanding your skills and talents is also important. Most of us already know what they are. It makes less sense to try work on areas we are weak. We are likely weak in areas of life because we have no interest and while we can improve in almost all areas of life why would you try on areas that you lack interest or passion. Your skills and talents will indicate and allow you to make better decisions about the path forward.
Your core values are the critical areas in your life that are important. What is important to you. We often become so misguided by society and this domestication that we start living incongruently with our values. When we do this we battle with our authentic self-expression. This is restricting. It is also the cause of much of our suffering. Integrity to oneself is essential on the journey of our life.
The fourth point of the Life Compass is better understanding our Needs and Desires. With the connection to the other three points of your Life Compass you will be better able to understand your needs and desires. Too often we are misguided by our needs and desires and that is because they are not true. They are not true because they are connected to the external reality of our life. We need to connect them internally. Our actions will be more purposeful and less wasteful.
Ask the questions, answer them with as much depth as you can, and create your Life Compass. The time you spend on this action step will benefit your greatly.
