Jim believes we need to understand that every success story includes crushing failure. Steve Jobs, Michael Jordan, Phil Knight, Elon Musk have all failed.

When you realize this, you’ll see that failure isn’t the opposite of success. It’s a necessary step on the path to success. But we live in a society that tells us that when we fail it means we’re not good enough or not smart enough or not capable enough. When people fail, they lower their goals and settle for less.

In this interview we discuss failure and how to use it as a path to success. We discuss Jim’s personal story that lead him to doing the work he does today. Jim shares his blueprint for success model to help get us there. Enjoy!

    Key Take Outs

    • Failure to Success. Failure is not a reason to give up. Failure is an opportunity to learn. It is a win. The greatest people that you may look up to and admire have failed massively and likely many times around. What creates even greater success is the ability to get back up. Focus on the wins of failing and use them to drive you, don’t let them stop you.
    • Core values are the first key to progressing through failure. The reason why so many people give up in the face of failure may be numerous but one very powerful reason is that they weren’t aligned with their essence or core values. When you want something bad enough it matters not how many times you fail but how many times you are willing to get back up.
    • Having strong goals that align. Your goals need to be aligned with your values. You must also write them down. Don’t just vision them but put them on paper and a plan. This is what the successful do.
    • Create an environment of excellence. It is the environment that we exist that will assist to support us in our success or impede on our mission forward. Find the conducive environment that is a fit for the life you want to lead.
    • Execute and take action. None of it matters if you are not willing to implement what you learnt from a failure. You must have courage to take action and do the work required. Put your head down and focus on what you are doing not what the rest of the world is doing.

Do you have any routines and rituals that you believe contribute to your success?
