Anger

Anger is a powerful surface emotion and like all emotions anger too perhaps has a purpose. The issue is not anger itself but how it causes us to act. Whether we express our anger in an aggressive unhealthy many or suppress it, both can lead to little resolve. She has spent over a decade researching the topic of vulnerability which she would define as “uncertainty, risk and emotional exposure.” She’d further say that vulnerability is not either a good or bad emotion but rather the essence to all emotions that when understood and cultivated will allow us to walk into a greater sense of meaning, purpose and joy in life. Passions – The Pursuit of Purpose Through Deliberate Practice

In this solo rant, I do a reading from an article I wrote about the pursuit of passions to assist one in living a purposeful life. There is no doubt in my mind that pursuing our passions makes life great. Passion breeds purpose. If defines internal motivation that pushes one into action and removes the unnecessary from our lives.

We talk about lifestyle choices and the impact of societal influences. We discuss the idea of medication as a solution yet ultimately prevention is the best solution. Dr Vij wraps up the discussion with practices that we could all likely benefit from.

I will admit up front that for the first half of this book and beyond I read it in a somewhat unenthusiastically manner. I felt there wasn’t enough meat in the opening chapters to get me excited about the journey of learning something new about time and money. (more…)
