This book is a book on philosophy and Zen Buddhism. I came across Alan Watts thought some inspiration videos I found of his about life. The thoughts were not only inspirational but intriguing. I had to learn more, and so I found this book, that I listened to as an audio book, which is a series of lectures from Alan Watts. It is a book of awareness and awakening. (more…)

In in my late teens and throughout my 20’s I felt like I wasn’t enough. I felt like it wasn’t achieving anything great. I felt unintelligent, stupid and really immature.
As I tried to define myself and sense of self-worth based on these feelings and personal insecurities I found myself venturing down paths and on a journey in life that kind of sucked and wasn’t truly as I desired. (more…)

Prof. Pigliucci has a Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Connecticut and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Tennessee. He currently is the K.D. Irani Professor of Philosophy at the City College of New York. His research interests include the philosophy of biology, the relationship between science and philosophy, the nature of pseudoscience, and the practical philosophy of Stoicism.
He has a new book out called How to Be a Stoic: Using Ancient Philosophy to Live a Modern Life, that forms the basis for our conversation in the episode. We discuss the stigma’s that exist around Stoicism and why and leads our conversation towards understanding what Stoicism is all about while also investigating some of the fundamental principles that guide Stoics. It helps create a better understanding of why this philosophy can assist us in creating more meaningful lives.
