If you awaken a desire within you or pay attention to your dreams things will happen to take you towards it, some times by choice and some times by force. I believe the universe listens to our human callings and then creates opportunities for us to follow. If we don’t make the choices that take us along the path we seek sometimes the universe will force us to.
An awakening, a moment or a time were you had a realisation or desire of doing something more is all it takes to create the momentum you need in life. At these moments we tune our attention towards a new ideal or direction. We allow our thoughts to be generated towards that which we seek.
We then make personal efforts and take action towards it or choose not to however, if we continue to allow these thoughts to occupy our mind the universe has its own way of making us take action. (more…)

“Self Awareness leads to Self Mastery, Self Mastery leads to the personal power to choose Happiness”
Gary van Warmerdam combines the wisdom spiritual traditions have in eliminating suffering with common sense in a way that is both practical and effective. Gary has studied with best selling author of The Four Agreements, Don Miguel Ruiz since 1994.
His experiences include spiritual journeys worldwide and many trips exploring the teachings of ancient Mexico. He co-developed and taught the Four Agreements Facilitators training at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck NY and the Crossings in Austin Texas.
In this episode I discuss my experiences, challenges and learnings as I progress through a challenge that I set myself. The challenge is multifaceted and perhaps I have bitten of more than I can chew but I continue to progress and even as I slip-up and fail I fight.
There are many reflections one can have as we battle with our body and mind. I have thought a lot about why we do things, why we behave the way we do and why this can affect our ability to progress with ease. When we are so set in our ways change can prove difficult.
Why do we challenge ourselves if it does cause us pain? What is the true reason? I believe the answer is growth, our fundamental human need. I also reflect on why certainty and uncertainty are needs we crave and seek and how this has affected me directly within this challenge. (more…)

“What would you dare to dream if you knew you couldn’t fail?” Brian Tracy
After a failed business in 1992, Darren LaCroix took the stage in a Boston comedy club and bombed miserably. It was horrible. The headliner that night told him to “keep his day job.” Friends told him that his dream of making people laugh for a living was crazy and stupid. He didn’t listen.
He may have been born without a funny bone in his body, but he possessed the desire to learn and the willingness to fail. These were the essentials for achieving his dream. He says, Effort + Direction = Mastery.
In 2001, Darren LaCroix out-spoke 25,000 contestants from 14 countries to become the World Champion of Public Speaking. Darren now travels the world demystifying the process of creating a powerful presentation. (more…)
The Big Five: Five Simple Things You Can Do to Live a Longer, Healthier Life by Dr. Sanjiv Chopra
I believe we need to keep an open mind in life with everything we approach. This book is one of those. When anyone tells me to do something specific in order to live longer, not that it happens everyday, I don’t jump all in. I instead seek to understand, remain open to the facts and my own experiences, assess and reflect on my own thoughts and assumptions, and then decide on what beliefs I will create.
Dr. Chopra shares five things that we can all do to extend our lives. The include drinking coffee, taking vitamin D, exercising, eating nuts, and meditating. If you have experience with any one of these, you will likely to be able to draw your own conclusions as to the benefits they have in your life. If you are not familiar you may just make assumptions based on your current knowledge level and thoughts. If that is the case this book makes for a very insightful read.
It might sound like I am blowing this book off, I am not. I really enjoyed this read and with my hand on my heart openly admit I have started drinking more coffee as a consequence, and perhaps a few more nuts. In no way does this book promote excess. Actually excess will really be determined by your current level of intake. If you currently drink 10 cups of coffee a day then Dr. Chopra’s view that 4-6 may be beneficial may cause you to reduce your intake. On exercise also, he doesn’t claim that the more exercise you do the better off you are but that just doping exercise will be beneficial.

Discover your Hidden Why – Jump on the Discovery Call
In this episode I share with you a quick thought on why it’s important to dream big but don’t wipe yourself out by overestimating what you can do in a year. This expectation often dampens peoples efforts as they progress towards living a life that they desire. Not only can it dampen but it can also put end to people’s dreams.
From all the amazing guests I’ve had on the show one thing that seems very common is that their journey to success was 10 years plus. You might be just amazed with what you can achieve in your lifetime but don’t be so hard on yourself if you don’t achieve it all within the next year.

A Question to Ask Yourself “What’s It All For”
I have been curious recently and asking myself this question, “what’s it all for.” Not so much in regards to what life is all about – I asked the question many years ago and now think I am on the right path. But rather why do I do some of the things I do.
Discover your Hidden Why – Jump on the Discovery Call
I came to the conclusion that I do it in the name of progression. That’s likely why many of us set ourselves challenges and goals. For those without ambition you may have given up in the pursuit of these things, my suggestion is get back on track.
Life is about progression and growth and if you are not growing you are not improving. We need to master ourselves in order to reach our full potential and sometimes that means pushing our boundaries to create deeper learnings. I think in chase of progression I truly find more meaning in life. I don’t always succeed but in overtime I fail and reflect deeply within I have a learning and that makes me just the little bit better each time.
It works for me, how about you?
Enjoy this ramble. I hope it inspires.

Dr. Raj Raghunathan studies the impact that people’s judgments and decisions have on their own happiness and fulfillment. Based on his research, he teaches a very successful course on Happiness around the world.
Fifteen years after getting his MBA, Raj Raghunathan spent some time with his old classmates. He noticed that though they’d all done well, there didn’t appear to be much correlation between their academic success and career success. What Raj found even more curious was the even smaller correlation between career success and what he calls life success. The greater the career success, the more unhappy, out of shape, harried and distracted his friends were.
If intelligence helps with decision-making, smart people should naturally make better life choices. So why are so many of the smartest, brightest, most successful people profoundly unhappy? This lead him to researching and writing, If Your So Smart, Why Aren’t You Happy? (more…)
Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story by Arnold Schwarzenegger
What a truly amazing life story. If you looked at Arnold’s life now without knowing his story you would not even begin to believe the journey he has taken to get there. This is why I love biographies of successful people, there is so much great insight, learnings and most of all inspiration. If you believe that what you dream is impossible, unreachable, then read this – you may just turn impossible into possible.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was born in Austria and as a kid had a fairly normal upbringing, at least for the time. Like any young boy he did boy things, tried to impress the girls, looked for adventure, sought passion to sink his teeth into and always looked for way to make a dime. Fast forward to today, Arnold has had an amazing array of success in life.
From the world champion and arguably the greatest bodybuilder of his time, to a number 1 action movie hero, and more recently Governor of California his achievements are none other than grand. They are not everyone’s dreams but none the less they are huge dreams achieved by a guy from a standard upbringing. Not to mention that majority of his success was made in America, a country he immigrated to at age 21 without limited knowledge of the language.
