Habits of a Happy Brain: Retrain Your Brain to Boost Your Serotonin, Dopamine, Oxytocin, & Endorphin Levels
by Loretta Breuning
“You may say you’re against status, but if you filled a room with people who said they were anti-status, a hierarchy would soon form based on how anti-status they are.”Loretta Breuning
If it feels good, it has side effects. This was a really cool read! Enjoyable & insightful into what triggers my own personal happiness and even unhappiness.
I don’t often think about what makes me happy and probably like many of us take things in life for granted. I do things also that Loretta would describe as my happy habits. Pathways I have learnt from experience that have made me feel good. Good and bad ones included.
When I am down, unhappy, I am aware. I reflect heavily in my down times. I feel pain; I place too much pressure on myself, and judge myself. Life is not and cannot always be total bliss. We are not designed to always be happy.
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” Martin Luther King, Jr.
If we wish to improve we must continue to challenge ourselves. Here is my thought as I work through a challenge of my own to help inspire you to start your new challenge and face it with passion.
What have you been putting off? What have you been holding back from tackling? What is that challenge in any aspect of your life, health, finances, relationships or other that would help progress you closer to the life you desire to live.
Decide what it is, however large or small, set it today, commit to it, understand the why and go of it. The challenges do not diminish life, the challenges amplify life.

How can I stop feeling so stressed out by life? What is my purpose? Why am I here?
Each of us is born with access to a powerful tool called an Internal Guidance System (IGS). Not unlike the GPS system that is built into cars, its purpose is to guide us through our lives by letting us know whether our thoughts and actions are moving us closer to, or further away from, the things we most want to create in our lives. Success Is for You: Using Heart-Centered Power Principles for Lasting Abundance and Fulfillment
“Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.” Bruce Lee
This is a read that I really didn’t expect. It is a different take and approach on success from what you may expect and certainly worth a read.
Dr. David R. Hawkins is a renowned physician, lecturer and researcher of consciousness, which is the state of being aware and responsive to one’s surroundings. If we can only be more aware of ourselves internally and how we respond to external happenings may then we attain more success.
Dr. Hawkins concepts seem very much common sense, including business and psychological behaviours that help propel success, however along the journey to success we loose touch with them. The idea is to gain consciousness and become aware that will then assist us in discovering true success.

In this episode I share a little piece of magic that I’ve applied in my own life to take greater action – quicker. It’s called the 5 Second Rule.
The key for us to free ourselves from the shackles of the life we no longer wish to live in efforts towards living the life we desires is taking action. The problem is we often find ourselves making excuses, procrastinating and waiting to do so.
The 5 Second Rule will help you overcome this. Well it did with me. Enjoy this little practice and let me know how it goes. Peace, passion and purpose.

“If you cant explain it to a 6 year old, you don’t understand it yourself.” Albert Einstein.
We as humans have a tendency to complicate things. When I refer to things I really refer to all aspects of life, our mind, our thoughts, our voice, our actions and our behaviours. We are so good at it that in fact we have become less effective and when we are less effective we are not as good as living life as it is meant to be lived – with peace, passion and purpose.
Here are my thoughts on why we complicate things:
1. When we don’t receive the rewards that we desire we add more to the mix. More things to do in hope more will bring greater results. In this sense more is more, when in fact more is less. (more…)
Summary
Tom Corley understands the difference between being rich and poor: at age nine, his family went from being multi-millionaires to broke in just one night, due to a catastrophic fire that destroyed his Dad’s thriving business. For fourteen years they struggled with poverty. Due to this Tom had a limited mindset when it came to money and wealth.
Driven by the desire to unlock the secrets to success and failure, Tom spent five years studying the daily activities of 233 rich people and 128 poor people. He discovered that there was an immense difference between the habits of the rich and poor. During his research he identified over 300 daily activities that separated the “haves” from the “have nots.” Tom decided to write a book, Rich Habits, that went on to become an Amazon Bestseller in the United States. He has written 2 more since then called, Rich Kids and Change Your Habits, Change Your Life.
Naturally, in this episode we discuss these habits. The behaviors and activities that will determine the level of success you have in life. Two keystone habits we discuss are daily self-improvement and the importance of quality relationships. We also discuss the difference between dream setting and goal setting.
I had so many questions to ask Tom and while what we covered is gold there is certainly more to discover. I will have to get him back on the show. Please enjoy this chat and until next time, peace, passion and purpose.
